In the off chance that there's something in the directory that you need, It should work to simply move that directory to one with a different name, like so: mv ~/.xinitrc ~/fake_initrc Then X11 will use the default /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc startup file. If you need to customize your login, don't edit the default file.
